An expert in the spotlight:
| Shlomit Rosen, Ayurvedic Nutritionist and Herbalist Like many other women in their 40s, Shlomit Rosen could not find cosmetics or lotions that suited her body and skin. Unlike most of them, she decided to manufacture those lotions herself. The result: Ayurveda cosmetics. A few years ago, Shlomit Rosen was seriously injured in a car accident. Although her doctors recommended that she undergoes an operation on her back, Rosen decided to treat herself. After two months of intensive self-treatment, in accordance with Indian medicine, she had fully recovered. |

Rosen, who for years has been involved with holistic counseling, believes that this is strong evidence of the power of Ayurveda. Another, no less decisive, proof is her young appearance and youthful energy, both of which belie her true age of 49.
Due to problems with her digestive system, Rosen had discovered Ayurveda before the car accident. The studying of this ancient Indian doctrine was added to her studies of reflexology, aromatherapy, and herbal medicine.
Aspects of all of these are implemented into her way of life and daily nutrition.
After exchanging exhausting aerobics classes for yoga and meditation, Rosen finally felt that her body was listening to her, that she could control it, and that she was on the right track.
At this stage in her personal development, the search for natural beauty products was almost inevitable. “External appearance is very important to me.
Anti-aging has interested me almost since I was born,” Rosen explained.
I already knew that my skin would changes after the age of 40, but I also knew that I would not undergo any plastic surgery, since, in principle, I am against all unnecessary operations. As a result, I started to look for natural cosmetics in the shops and discovered that even those beauty products containing herbal ingredients were based on petroleum.
I started to develop a truly natural moisturizing cream, with the knowledge that skin is an excellent absorber. Just as I only nourish myself with organic food, I will only nourish my skin with a truly organic cream. I had no background in cosmetics, but I did have a burning desire to create such a product. I worked in cooperation with a chemist, and for two years we searched and experimented until we developed a nourishing cream based on shea butter. We added vegetable extracts, which absorb liquids. Afterwards, we also developed a special-formula vitamin serum and, later, we produced an eye cream and a body cream. All of these are based on organic shea butter, and are fragrance free.
About 10 years ago, when Rosen gave daily guidance on leading a healthy lifestyle in accordance with the principles of Ayurveda, she was astounded by the properties of the Grenoble nut. Therefore, when she started to develop her own products, she requested that their essence be a central feature.
According to Rosen, the Grenoble nut extracts contain active concentrates of proteins, minerals, vitamins, and other ingredients. These, aided by long-term scientific research, vigorously stimulate the skin cells and have an immediate firming effect on the skin: treating wrinkles and blemishes, improving blood circulation in the capillaries, and acting as an antioxidant, increasing the skin’s resistance to the signs of aging. Rosen claims that the enriching properties of the nut preserve the skin’s natural moisture, maintaining the desired level, and renewing its elasticity.
Later on, Rosen found two investors who believed in her products, and she established a company – Ananda, named after the mythological Hindu god of the earth. Ananda means bliss in Sanskrit: the pure, innocent state of being that everyone strives to attain. Today the brand consists of several product lines – a line for babies and mothers (including massage oil for the perineum before childbirth and a recovery cream for after childbirth, nipple cream when breastfeeding, soap, shampoo, body cream, and more), the Grenoble Nut line (including a revitalizing cream, a serum, an eye cream, a cleansing lotion, and nourishing night and day creams) and the Dead Sea line based on black mud and salts (including purifying face and body masks, a body oil and nourishing creams).
Rosen’s number one tip – reverse movements:
Simply stand on your hands or head a few minutes every day. Or you can do even less – spread your legs but keep them straight, and bend your head towards your knees while holding your elbows in your hands. Two to three minutes in that position and you will feel completely renewed.
